I just watched tiger play a couple holes in the 3rd round of the US open and it was pretty cool and entertaining, for a golf tourny. He just had knee surgery less than a month ago, and he is winning. He says it was luck when he bounced it in off a chip shot, but you still have to aim and get the ball close to bounce it in.
Racing in Nature Valley today was hard. We lost the leaders jersey. And learned some lessons about riding on the front.
I am really proud of Emily for battling through and finishing todays 91-mile stage. Her team is passing a nice little sickness around to each other and it hit her, but she made it through.
…and i LOVED it! it was about 200 degrees and sticky, steamy humid. but i have always wanted to race here and it was awesome. i was able to contribute to the happenings when i attacked and started a break of about 11 riders at the beginning of kelly drive. we lasted up the wall - would have liked it to have been longer, but it wasn’t meant to be i suppose. just happy that i could do something for the team…
got to ride in the high road car again this year for the end of the men’s race. (big thanks to tristan and steve for taking even more years off my life from the stress!) :) scott was not happy with his philly, but i’ll let him blog about that…maybe…someday….probably not.
We are in Minnesota for the Nature Valley Grand Prix. After a nice 5 of us took the team car and went to the local mall for lunch. Its a fairly popular mall:
The mall was just like any other, the only difference was the size. The website says that Seven Yankee Stadiums can fit inside and the distance of one lap around a level is 0.5 miles.
It was awesome.
after 2 and 1/2 months, scott and i are finally staying together for this madness they call philly week. i am behind, actually, with the updating because we have been busy racing and recovering. tuesday and thursday were the Lehigh and Reading races leading up to the big tomato on sunday in the city.
tuesday and thursday had a distinct theme: good for scott, bad for me. the races were hard and fast, with hot humidity and technical courses. still utterly frustrating that i didn’t do better, no matter how many excuses i can think of. ultimately, there are no excuses but 100’s of lessons learned. ok, enough whiney-cyclist “me” talk. and sorry…no pictures…but a link:
Mt. Hood that is. Sorry for the lack of blogging, but after europe and gila, it was all i could do just to get through the week in OR. don’t get me wrong - it was great. absolutely beautiful, got to race with the girls, got to see E.C. and the Bissell boys, and ended in 3rd GC with our very own storm trooper leah. but now, i am exhausted! so i’ll let the pictures do the talking:
Omer Kem, being the complete gentleman, let me use his TT helmet. (BJM didn’t want me to borrow his for some reason.) When Glen found out, he was livid. Apparently, a good TT is all in the helmet…
Shaz has a soft spot for teenage mutant ninga turtles.
I barely made it as it is. Without these two, I would have been completely lost…probably curled in the fetal position, drooling and mumbling to myself somewhere in the Oregon wilderness.
