World Bicycle Relief Fundraiser results

Filed under: Uncategorized — zwiza @ 6:15 pm

This past weekend, it started to rain in Mill Valley on Saturday.  The forecast for Sunday was calling for a “100% chance of precipitation” and high winds. The forecast was correct, it rained, alot.
So we changed the plan of the fundraiser to a 9am meeting, at Above Category bike shop, with bagels and coffee followed by an optional bike ride. And no one opted to ride.

Despite the rain, the fundraiser was a success!  We had about 10 brave souls come out on a miserable Sunday morning to donate and learn about World Bicycle Relief.  Two people actually rode their bikes to the shop in the rain (one was Alison and the other was Henrik, who also won the Cane Creek WBR limited edition headset).   Between all the donations of the people there, the riders who donated early and the online donations for the ride, we raised $2256 towards building bikes for World Bicycle Relief.

Thank you to everyone.  And thanks to Above Category for hosting. If you are still interested in donating, please donate online here.

2nd World Bicycle Relief Fundraiser still on despite rain

Filed under: Uncategorized — zwiza @ 10:26 pm

We will still meet tomorrow for the fundraiser ride, all details are here.

We will meet at Above Category at 9am, drink coffee, talk about bike racing and World Bicycle Relief. Then do the prize drawing for the people who donated, all while we are warm and dry. Then if anyone wants to be hardcore and go ride in the rain, we will end the event with a nice little ride in the rain.

Hope to see you there!
